SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Charles "Charlie" Mohr Sr. of Godfrey,
4 who passed away on June 15, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on June 1, 1927, in Springfield and
6 raised at the Catholic Children's Home in Alton; and
 
7     WHEREAS, He married his beloved wife of 54 years, the
8 former Mary Lou Ferk, on May 28, 1955, at SS Peter & Paul
9 Catholic Church; and
 
10     WHEREAS, He retired in 1993 from Beall Manufacturing in
11 East Alton after 37 years of service; he served as president of
12 the Machinist Union Local 660 for 27 years; he was also
13 president of the Federation of Labor for several years; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He was very active in the area Democratic Party
15 politics; he was a longtime member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic
16 Church, a member of the Alton Moose Lodge 951 since 1971, and a
17 member of the Alton Eagles FOE 254; he enjoyed working in his
18 prized rose garden and especially enjoyed being the local
19 "Santa" for the Alton Moose, numerous schools, and
20 neighborhoods; in addition, he loved his music, singing, and
21 especially playing his harmonica; and

1     WHEREAS, Charles Mohr Sr. will be missed by his beloved
2 wife, Mary Lou; he will be missed by his son, Charles "Chipper"
3 Mohr Jr.; his grandchildren, Allison Mohr and Charles "Charlie"
4 Mohr III; his sister-in-law, Juanita Kennedy; and his nieces,
5 nephews, and good friends; therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8 his family and friends, the passing of Charles "Charlie" Mohr
9 Sr.; and be it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of Charles "Charlie" Mohr Sr. as a
12 symbol of our sincere sympathy.
