SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Foster Leroy Frederick of Granite City,
4 who passed away on May 17, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Foster Frederick was born on April 30, 1934 in
6 Depoy, Kentucky; he was the son of Isaac Cooper Frederick Sr.
7 and Ollie Belle (Johnston) Frederick; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Foster Frederick served his country with pride and
9 distinction as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War;
10 and
 
11     WHEREAS, Foster Frederick recently retired from the City
12 Inspection Department of Granite City; he worked for Union
13 Starch for 17 years prior to their closing and retired from
14 Granite City Steel; he also represented Granite City's 4th Ward
15 for 12 years as an Alderman; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Foster Frederick was also a member of the Masonic
17 Temple, the Granite City Shriners, and the Moose Club; he was
18 an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Granite City; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Foster Frederick was preceded in death by his
20 wife, Dorothy (Meacham) Frederick; his daughter, Peggy (Eric)

1 Lachmiller; his granddaughter, Hannah Keeton; his grandson,
2 Jacob Whitehead; his great-granddaughter, Gianna Reister; his
3 parents; and his five brothers and four sisters; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Foster Frederick is survived by his wife, Ella
5 Frederick (Monk); his daughters, Diana and (Daniel) Whitehead,
6 Cindi and (Terry) Keeton, and Rebecca Jo Schooley; his son,
7 Steven and (Sue) Frederick; his brother, Cooper and (Anna Jo)
8 Frederick; his six grandchildren and three
9 great-grandchildren; his numerous nieces and nephews; his
10 step-children, Susan and (Kelly) Valle and Phillip Ward; and
11 his 4 step-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
12     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
13 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14 his family and friends, the passing of Foster Leroy Frederick;
15 and be it further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to the family of Foster Frederick as an expression of
18 our sympathy.
