SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Ralph Eugene Butler of Alton, who passed
4 away on May 9, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on September 8, 1927, in Alton, to
6 William and Ella (Barton) Butler; he married Lorene Butler on
7 October 14, 1950, in Alton; and
 
8     WHEREAS, He was a United States Army prisoner of war during
9 the Korean Conflict; and
 
10     WHEREAS, He worked as a warehouseman at the Granite City
11 Army Depot for twenty years, retiring in 1976; he was a member
12 of 1308 Ex P.O.W. Club in Okawville and an Ex P.O.W. lifetime
13 member; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his
15 sister, Lillian Little; his brother, Tom Butler; his grandson,
16 Charles Knight; his granddaughter, Shawna Shaw; and his
17 sons-in-law, Charles M. Knight and Clarence W. Shaw; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Ralph Butler is survived by his wife, Lorene; his
19 daughters and son-in-law, Deborah and Robert Ruckman and Helen
20 Shaw; his sons and daughter-in-law, Michael Eugene and

1 Elizabeth Butler and William Cecil and Anne Butler; his
2 grandchildren, Tiffany Moore, Keri Knight, Chad Knight, Cory
3 Knight, and Joshua Shaw; his ten great-grandchildren; and his
4 sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Carl McKenzie; therefore,
5 be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8 his family and friends, the passing of Ralph Butler; and be it
9 further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of Ralph Butler as a symbol of our
12 sincere sympathy.
