SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lawrence W. Powers of Alton, who passed away on May 2, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Lawrence Powers was born in Alton; he was the son of Lawrence William and Elizabeth (Fulkerson) Powers; he married Sharon (Hanerhoff) Johnson on January 13, 2002 in Las Vegas, Nevada; and

WHEREAS, Lawrence Powers and his wife enjoyed working at their office, Practical Rehab Services, with their employees and clients; and

WHEREAS, Lawrence Powers was a member of the Alton Godfrey Rotary Club and the Alton Road Runners; he was a tri-athlete and loved to play softball; he also loved working, being outside in his yard and garden, and going dancing with his wife; and

WHEREAS, Lawrence Powers was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Gail Widaman; and his half-sisters, Margaret Shirley and Isal Thompson; and

WHEREAS, Lawrence Powers is survived by his wife; his four stepsons; his seven grandchildren; and his sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Ron Donelson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Lawrence W. Powers; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lawrence Powers as an expression of our sympathy.
