HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to recognize the members of the Chicago Ice Theatre for their great work in blending figure skating, theater, and dance; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago Ice Theatre (CIT) is an affiliate of the Theatre On Ice (TOI), a form of competitive figure skating that is popular in Europe; TOI combines the grace of figure skating with the excitement of theater and dance; TOI programs are judged by U.S. Figure Skating judges and are evaluated on technical merit and presentation with emphasis on originality, costuming, artistry, and musicality; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago Ice Theatre has participated in numerous TOI events; the CIT placed 4th in the national standings and 3rd in the international standings in the 2009 Dancing with the Stars Above event; the team placed 3rd in the national standings and 4th in the international standings in the 2009 A League of Their Own event; the team earned the gold medal at the 2007 Stomp event; the team also earned the Gold National medal and the Silver International medal at the 2008 Chiller event; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Chicago Ice Theatre serve as models of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the members of the Chicago Ice Theatre and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Chicago Ice Theatre as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
