HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor the administration, staff, and students of Carl Schurz High School on the occasion of the school's 100 years of educational and social service to the Chicago community; and

WHEREAS, Carl Schurz High School has graduated over 50,000 students in its 100-year existence; and

WHEREAS, Carl Schurz High School has honored 86 of its alumni in its Hall of Fame; Carl Schurz alumni include an ambassador, a Nobel prize winner, 2 brigadier generals, university presidents, college professors, doctors, lawyers, scientists, bank presidents, corporate heads, philanthropists, Olympic athletes, and media personnel; and

WHEREAS, Carl Schurz High School athletic teams have won numerous, including city championships and a State title; Carl Schurz students have also earned recognition in academics and the fine arts; and

WHEREAS, Carl Schurz High School has been designated a Chicago landmark and has applied to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places; and

WHEREAS, Carl Schurz High School demonstrates true devotion to the students and the community and maintains a tradition of excellence; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor the administration, staff, and students of Carl Schurz High School on the occasion of the school's 100 years of dedicated service and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mary Ann Folino, principal of Carl Schurz High School, as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
