HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Terrence J. Freeman on the occasion of his retirement from the Woodridge Police Department on February 27, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Terrence Freeman graduated from the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command in February of 2004; he earned his bachelor's degree from Benedictine University in December of 2008; and

WHEREAS, Terrence Freeman has had a long and distinguished career in law enforcement; he began his career with the Woodridge Police Department on June 8, 1979, when he was hired to serve as a patrol officer; on July 9, 2000, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant; and

WHEREAS, During his tenure as a patrol officer, Terrence Freeman was one of the Woodridge Police Department's first tactical officers in the mid-1980s; he served as a DARE officer in the 1990s; he performed the duties of arson investigator and evidence technician during his time as a patrol officer; he was also elected by his peers to the Board of Directors for the Metropolitan Alliance of Police (MAP) until his promotion to sergeant in 2000; and

WHEREAS, Upon his promotion to sergeant, Terrence Freeman served as a patrol team supervisor until July of 2005, when he became a detective sergeant; as a detective sergeant, he became a member of the Felony Investigative Assistance Team (FIAT), a multi-jurisdictional police task force in DuPage County; and

WHEREAS, Terrence Freeman is the recipient of numerous awards, letters of appreciation, honorable recognition awards, and department commendations for his years of dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, Terrence Freeman plans to enjoy his retirement with his wife, Mary, and his sons, Shawn and Kevin; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Terrence J. Freeman on the occasion of his retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Terrence Freeman as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
