HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the students, faculty, and staff of the Technology Center of DuPage in Addison on the occasion of the center's 35th anniversary in 2010; and

WHEREAS, The Technology Center of DuPage opened during the 1974-75 school year in the 250,000-square-foot building where it stands today on Schick Road in Addison; in the beginning, only 8 districts participated in the center's vocational programs; in addition, the center originally only targeted students who were not college-bound; and

WHEREAS, Today, the Technology Center of DuPage serves students from 24 districts who take classes at the center as part of their electives; the students can also earn dual college credit in partnership with College of DuPage; all 21 programs at the school focus on career exploration, occupational training, workplace skills, and preparing students for possible secondary education in their field; and

WHEREAS, The Technology Center of DuPage intends to continue its steady growth with a new program entitled Project Lead the Way; the project, a pre-engineering program, offers instruction in computer-aided design and manufacturing and digital electronics; the program also will allow participants to obtain university credit; and

WHEREAS, For the past 35 years, the Technology Center of DuPage has served as an example to follow for career and technical education institutions throughout the State of Illinois and the nation at large; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the students, faculty, and staff of the Technology Center of DuPage on the occasion of the center's 35th anniversary and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Steve Clark, director of the Technology Center of DuPage, as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
