HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ross Allen Kitchen; and

WHEREAS, Ross Kitchen had a long and distinguished career as a firefighter; after serving 10 years as a firefighter, he became fire chief of the Marengo Fire Department, serving in that capacity from 1970 until his retirement in 2005; and

WHEREAS, Ross Kitchen was a driving force in the creation of the Northern Illinois Fire Museum, of which he served as president emeritus; during his tenure as fire chief, he was instrumental in upgrading the department's fire equipment and training practices; and

WHEREAS, Following his retirement as fire chief, Ross Kitchen enjoyed traveling and spending time with his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Ross Kitchen is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Kitchen; his 4 daughters; his 10 grandchildren; and his great-granddaughter; and

WHEREAS, Ross Kitchen will be remembered by all who knew and loved him as a dependable family man, whose dedication to his family and his fellow firefighters was unmatched; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Ross Allen Kitchen; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ross Kitchen as an expression of our sympathy.
