HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Polish American Congress on its National Conference and their 65th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The National Conference was held on October 15 and 16, 2009 at Northeastern Illinois University; the theme of the conference was The Polish American Community in the 21st Century: Challenges and Opportunities; and

WHEREAS, The conference offered participants the opportunity to share and experience ideas, aspirations, and thoughts from across the country; and

WHEREAS, Leaders from Chicago, Illinois, the United States, and the Government of Poland were in attendance and addressed the conference; and

WHEREAS, Sessions focused on the profile of the current Polish American community (Polonia); leadership development; relations between the United States, the Polish American community, and Poland; and the future of Polonia; and

WHEREAS, A reception and recital of the music of Chopin and Paderewski concluded the conference; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Polish American Congress and their efforts and wish them the best in their anniversary year; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Frank J. Spula, Polish American Congress President, as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
