HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the congregation of the Bible Fellowship Church in Olney on the occasion of the church's 100th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The Bible Fellowship Church was established on July 31, 1909 as a Christian Church; the church later became a Congregational Christian Church in 1935; in 1984, the church's name was changed to Bible Fellowship Church; and

WHEREAS, For 79 years, the Bible Fellowship Church met in a building located in downtown Olney; in 1987, the church purchased property and constructed a new building in the north-east section of Olney; the congregation began meeting in the new building in April of 1988; and

WHEREAS, Since 1967, the Bible Fellowship Church has had an active interest in missions and has supported missionaries in many foreign countries and in various ministries within the United States; currently, Bible Fellowship supports those active in ministry in Jordan, India, Papua New Guinea, and Russia; and

WHEREAS, The congregation of the Bible Fellowship Church celebrated the church's 100th anniversary with a special service on September 20, 2009; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the congregation of the Bible Fellowship Church on the occasion of the church's 100th anniversary of service to the people of Olney; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Brady Farr, Pastor of Bible Fellowship Church, as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
