HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor Kevin Yusman of Aurora for his service as a Staff Judge Advocate for the United States Navy; and

WHEREAS, He was born and raised in Chesterfield, Missouri; he attended Kansas University, where he received a Bachelors degree in Political Science; he attended Southern Methodist University, where he received his Juris Doctorate; after his second year in Law School, he joined the United States Navy Judge Advocate General Corps as a Lieutenant JG (Junior Grade); and

WHEREAS, He married Amy Haas Yusman in 1995; together, they have 2 sons, Benjamin, 9 years old, and Alexander, 6 years old; and

WHEREAS, His first duty station was in San Diego, California with the Navy Legal Service Office SW, where he provided comprehensive legal support (Defense, Claims, and Legal Assistance) to Navy commands and individual service members; his second duty station was in Naples, Italy, with the United States Naval Support Activity, Trial Service Office, where he provided trial services, international law, and command legal services to Navy and Marine Corps activities located in Europe and the Mediterranean; and

WHEREAS, Kevin perfected his court room work during his time in Italy, handling courts-martials and working closely with the Naval Criminal Investigative Services (NCIS); in 2004, after 7 years of active duty, he decided to pursue civilian law and moved his family to Aurora; and

WHEREAS, He joined the Navy Active Ready Reserves and is currently a Lieutenant Commander and the sole Staff Judge Advocate for the US Fleet Forces stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Base; in August he will be mobilizing with the Criminal Investigative Task Force and will be stationed in Afghanistan; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Kevin Yusman for his hard work and dedication while serving in the United States Navy; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Kevin Yusman as a symbol of our respect.
