HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Pastor F. Dean Lueking on the occasion of winning the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award from the Boy Scouts of America; and

WHEREAS, The Distinguished Eagle Scout Award, the most prestigious level of recognition in Scouting, is given to those men who have earned their Eagle Scout rank at least 25 years earlier in life and then went on to distinguish themselves by achieving prominence within their profession and through volunteer leadership and service; out of over 2 million Eagle Scouts, less than 2,000 have achieved this level of distinction; and

WHEREAS, Pastor F. Dean Lueking is an internationally-known Lutheran minister; for 44 years, he served as Pastor of the 1,700-member Grace Lutheran Church of River Forest; during his tenure, he faithfully led the congregation spiritually and continually strived for excellence in all of the church's undertakings, including the implementation of ground-breaking new ministries and outreach programs and the construction of a multi-million dollar facility expansion to support those ministries; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his duties as Pastor, Pastor Lueking has written 10 religious books and maintains an international schedule of traveling, teaching, preaching, and writing; he has also served and held leadership positions on numerous non-profit boards and has been the recipient of many awards and honors; and

WHEREAS, Pastor Lueking and his wife, Beverly, have served as foster parents to over 30 children; and

WHEREAS, The Des Plaines Valley Council and Boy Scout Troop 66 will present the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award to Pastor Lueking during a ceremony at Grace Lutheran Church in River Forest on August 1, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Pastor Lueking serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Pastor F. Dean Lueking on the occasion of winning the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Pastor F. Dean Lueking as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
