HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize Andrew D. Singleton,
4 Jr., Senior Pastor and Chief Executive Officer of Victory
5 Apostolic Church in Matteson, for his many years of work in the
6 faith community; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Pastor Singleton received his bachelor's degree
8 in accounting from the University of Illinois at Chicago; he
9 attended Moody Bible Institute for five years, taking college
10 level courses, and received his Masters of Divinity degree from
11 McCormick Theological Seminary in 2002; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Pastor Singleton was saved in 1978 at the
13 Apostolic Church of God (ACOG) in Chicago, where Bishop Arthur
14 M. Brazier is Pastor Emeritus; he became an Ordained Elder in
15 the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (P.A.W.) in 1989; at
16 ACOG, he served in many capacities, including time as the
17 Director of both the Ministerial Alliance and the Prison
18 Ministry, and was elevated to the office of Assistant Pastor in
19 1995; he was elevated to District Elder in the P.A.W. in 2003;
20 in 2008, he resigned from the P.A.W. and formed the Victory
21 Association to help transform churches by training leaders; and
 
22     WHEREAS, Pastor Singleton currently serves as Senior

1 Pastor and Chief Executive Officer of Victory Apostolic Church;
2 he led the church's first service, which was held at the former
3 Ramada Inn in Harvey in 1996; the church later moved to a newly
4 renovated facility in Chicago Heights, which seated over 250
5 worshippers and was purchased at a cost of $500,000; in 2000,
6 Victory sponsored its first community outreach event, "A Taste
7 of Victory", which was designed to link church, community, and
8 business; over 3,000 people attend this event each year at
9 Prairie State College in Chicago Heights; since its inception
10 in 1996, the church has grown from 12 members to over 2,100
11 members with over 70 ministries; in February of 2009, Victory
12 moved from its original site in Chicago Heights into their new
13 2,500 seat church in Matteson; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Pastor Singleton also serves as a Certified Public
15 Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP); he
16 has worked as Chief Finance Officer and Vice President of
17 Finance for several Chicago-based non-profit organizations,
18 including the Englewood Community Health Organization, the
19 Community Mental Health Council, and the Westside Health
20 Partnership; and
 
21     WHEREAS, Pastor Singleton has been married for 34 years to
22 his wife, Brenda; they are the proud parents of three children,
23 Takara, Karena, and Andrew, III, and the grandparents of
24 Brianna Cheyenne; therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3 recognize Andrew D. Singleton, Jr. for his many years of work
4 in the faith community and in helping to strengthen the social,
5 economic, and cultural standing of the southern suburbs as a
6 whole; and be it further
 
7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to Pastor Andrew D. Singleton, Jr. as a symbol of our
9 esteem and respect.
