HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Christopher Valent of Lindenhurst on the occasion of attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout on December 22, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Valent began his scouting career as a Tiger Cub in 1997; he steadily climbed the ranks of the Cub Scouts, reaching the rank of Webelos; once again showing great initiative, he rose through the Boy Scout ranks until he reached the pinnacle of achievement within the organization, the rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, To achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, Christopher Valent organized a bike drive with the Working Bikes Cooperative; his program collected approximately 200 bikes that were sent to Angola and other countries in need; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Valent has served in many positions of responsibility within the Boy Scouts, including Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and Librarian; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Valent is a student at Lakes Community High School; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Valent's family, friends, and fellow Scouts, along with the members of this body, are proud of his hard work and dedication in gaining this prestigious rank; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Christopher Valent on the occasion of attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Christopher Valent as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
