HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Marshall High School boys basketball team, the Lions, on an impressive season; and

WHEREAS, The Lions had a season record of 32 wins and one loss, setting a school record for most wins in a season (32) and most consecutive wins (31); it was also the first time in school history that varsity, junior varsity, and the freshmen-sophomore team finished the season undefeated; and

WHEREAS, The Lions were the Capital Classic Champions and the Wabash Valley Pizza Hut Classic Champions in 2008; the Little Illini Conference Champions in 2008-2009; the LIC Tournament Champions, the St. Anthony Regional Champions, the Robinson Sectional Champions, and the Western Illinois University Super-sectional Champions, all in 2009; and

WHEREAS, The Lions are ranked #3 in the State 2A Final Illinois High School Association poll and the Associated Press poll and finished third in the State Championships; and

WHEREAS, The Head Coach of the Lions is Tom Brannan; the Assistant Coaches are Chris Kessler and Pat Duncan; and the team managers are Harold Dominick, Jason Mason, and Logan Swalls; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Marshall Lions are: Logan Eitel, Ethan Delp, Jacob Duncan, Austin Wetnight, Jordan Grooms, Trey Brashear, Lucas Eitel, Jake Tucker, Logan Cannady, Taylor Duncan, Dalton Sanders, Dustin Morey, and Tyler Bishop; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the coaching staff, managers, and team of the Marshall Lions boys basketball team and wish them the best in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Marshall Lions as a symbol of our respect.
