HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Thomas James Gibson of Boy Scout Troop 17 in Carrier Mills on the occasion of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Gibson has been a member of scouting for 9 years; and

WHEREAS, In order to qualify as an Eagle Scout, a young man must demonstrate outstanding qualities of leadership, a willingness to be of help to others, and superior skills in camping, lifesaving, and first aid; and

WHEREAS, To achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, Thomas Gibson built a wheelchair-accessible wooden bridge at Washington St. Park in Carrier Mills, ensuring greater access for the handicapped to the park's many attractions; and

WHEREAS, In earning this high rank, Thomas Gibson joins an elite and honorable fraternity of achievers that counts among its members an extraordinary number of this nation's great leaders in business, government, education, and other sectors of society; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Gibson's family, including his parents, William and Michele Gibson, are undoubtedly proud of his achievements and his willingness to serve his community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Thomas James Gibson of Boy Scout Troop 17 on the occasion of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and wish him continued success in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Thomas Gibson as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
