HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the
4 Centennial High School Chargers boys basketball team on the
5 occasion of winning the IHSA Class 3A State championship; and
 
6     WHEREAS, The Centennial High School Chargers boys
7 basketball team beat Oswego 61-59 to win the Class 3A State
8 championship on March 21, 2009; the team's victory marks the
9 school's first boys' basketball State title and the city's
10 first title since 1946; and
 
11     WHEREAS, The team's State victory comes after a dramatic
12 66-65 win over their heavily-favored opponent, Chicago North
13 Lawndale, in the semi-finals game; and
 
14     WHEREAS, The members of the Centennial High School Chargers
15 boys basketball team are Jimmie McDonald, Marcell Kelly, Travon
16 Porter, Tim Weaver, Bryson Davis-Johnson, James Kinney,
17 Rayvonte Rice, James Mihm, Jordan Johnson, Tiger O'Neil,
18 Laziriss Baker, Jeff Johnson, Cliff Meece, and Josh Piper; the
19 team's head coach is Tim Lavin and the assistant coaches are
20 Sonny Walker, David Hansen, and Marc Changnon; and
 
21     WHEREAS, The members of the Centennial High School Chargers

1 boys basketball team serve as models of hard work, integrity,
2 and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois;
3 therefore, be it
 
4     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6 congratulate the members of the Centennial High School Chargers
7 boys basketball team on the occasion of winning the IHSA Class
8 3A State championship and wish them continued success and
9 happiness in the future; and be it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to Tim Lavin, head coach of the Centennial High
12 School Chargers boys basketball team, as a symbol of our esteem
13 and respect.
