HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Cook-Illinois Corporation is an Illinois company, based in Oak Forest, and is the largest family owned and operated school bus contractor in the United States; and

WHEREAS, Cook-Illinois Corporation ranks fifth nationally in overall size and operates a fleet of more than 1,700 school buses throughout the Chicagoland area; and

WHEREAS, Cook-Illinois is a leader in green transportation and was recently named a "Clean Bus Leader" by the Environmental and Energy Study Institute and the National Clean Bus Network; in addition, Cook-Illinois Corporation was the first school bus service provider in Illinois to switch its entire fleet to bio-diesel fuel and has recently purchased the first hybrid school bus in the Midwest; and

WHEREAS, Cook Illinois is a national leader in the safe and efficient transportation of schoolchildren, including special education transportation, and is an important part of Illinois education services and the Illinois economy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the owners and employees of the Cook-Illinois Corporation on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the corporation's first bus company on May 6 of this year; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Cook-Illinois Corporation as a symbol of our respect.
