HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, On April 26, 2009 the Lions Club of Roselle will celebrate the 75th anniversary of receiving their charter as a Lions Club; and

WHEREAS, As well as supporting the efforts of Lions International to eradicate blindness and serve the needy throughout the world, the Roselle Lions are major contributors and supporters of the Lions of Illinois Foundation, an Illinois foundation which aids those with vision and hearing problems by providing glasses, hearing aids, sending the vision and hearing impaired to camp, and numerous other programs for those in need; and

WHEREAS, The Roselle Lions Club has, over its 75-year existence, supported its local community with donations of land for parks, building pavilions, giving yearly monetary donations to local charitable organizations such as the Marklund Home, the Ray Graham Association, the Diecke Eye Center, the Roselle American Legion, The Roselle Historical Foundation, Stepping Stones, and numerous others; and

WHEREAS, They have also made donations to individuals with medical needs and donated to schools, libraries, the Miracle Field, and other not-for-profit organizations; and

WHEREAS, The Roselle Lions have participated in local events and have helped or sponsored the Children's Christmas party, The Lions Carnival, National Night Out, the Senior Picnic, and other events; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Lions Club of Roselle on this momentous occasion and wish them continued success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Lions Club of Roselle as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
