HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Darrell "Del" Rea of Christopher, who passed away on July 10, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Darrell Rea was born on July 11, 1948, in Carbondale; he was the son of Jesse and Betty (Maness) Rea; and

WHEREAS, Darrell Rea served his country with pride and distinction as a member of the United States Marine Corps, having served 3 tours of duty with the 1st Marine Division; and

WHEREAS, Darrell Rea served as the editor of the Christopher Progress for many years; and

WHEREAS, Darrell Rea was a former citizen of the year in Christopher; he was the former president of the Christopher Chamber of Commerce; he also helped organize the youth fishing derby in Christopher, where he was well known as a friend to the community; and

WHEREAS, Darrell Rea was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion, and the Homecoming Committee; and

WHEREAS, Darrell Rea was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Kathryn; and

WHEREAS, Darrell Rea is survived by his children, Jeff Rea and Kristin Rea; his grandson, Jason Thomas Rea; and his sisters, Karen Hornat and Linda Rea; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Darrell "Del" Rea; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Darrell Rea as an expression of our sympathy.
