HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the passing of Martin
4Anthonisen of Chicago, who passed away on July 10, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He served as a Navy Pilot during World War II; he
6was a proud member of Sigma Nu Fraternity at DePauw University
7and graduated from the University of Illinois; he earned his
8Series 7 and 24 Securities licenses and held the distinction of
9being in the first class for the Certified Financial Planner
10designation; and
 
11    WHEREAS, In 1962 he founded Anthonisen Financial
12Corporation and went on to manage stockbrokers and financial
13advisors throughout Chicago and northeast Indiana; the firm
14continues today as AFC Advisory Group, serving the retired and
15retiring under the direction of Lois Anthonisen and Nick
16Markionni; and
 
17    WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, friend, and
18friend to charity; he gave much of his time and energy to local
19non-profit organizations, including the founding and hosting
20of the original "Jazz In The Park For Charity" at his home in
21Flossmoor; he was a long time Rotarian and served as President
22of the Merrillville, Indiana chapter, originated, and was

1founding President of the Homewood Rotary Foundation; and
 
2    WHEREAS, He was a Paul Harris Fellow and sponsored numerous
3scholarships for candidates focusing on business and marketing
4at Prairie State College and Governors State University; he
5served on boards of the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra and New
6York-based Royal Alliance, his firm's broker dealer; his
7international charity work included missions to deliver
8eyeglasses to the poor in Poland and Peru and serving with a
9team of financial professionals to help the Chinese establish
10their financial services industry in Beijing and Shanghai; and
 
11    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his eldest daughter,
12Lynn Anthonisen; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Martin Anthonisen is survived by his wife, Lois
14(nee Pommier); his daughter, Karen Finch; his son, Carsen
15Anthonisen; his daughter, Lisa Myers; and his daughter, Ashley
16Ottmann; Roberta Neidigh Anthonisen and Terry Myers, his
17precious daughter and son in law, his six wonderful
18grandchildren and three great grandchildren round out his proud
19family; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
22mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Martin

2    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3presented to the family of Martin Anthonisen as a symbol of our
4sincere sympathy.
