HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Ressie Nelson Richardson on the occasion of her 100th birthday on August 10, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Ressie Nelson Richardson was born on August 10, 1910, in Ponola, Mississippi; at the age of 18, she moved to Colp to live with her brother, James Nelson, to help him with his children; shortly after coming to Colp, she met her future husband, Emanual Richardson; and

WHEREAS, Ressie Nelson Richardson earned her degree in cooking from Southern Illinois University; and

WHEREAS, Ressie Nelson Richardson was employed with the late Dr. Delyte Morris and his wife, Dorothy, for 27 years; she also worked with Dr. Wendell Kane in Herrin; and

WHEREAS, Ressie Nelson Richardson enjoys cooking, traveling, doing housework, children, and attending the Church of God in Christ; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Ressie Nelson Richardson on the occasion of her 100th birthday and wish her many happy and healthy years to come; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ressie Nelson Richardson as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
