HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the
4 Teutopolis High School varsity boys baseball team on the
5 occasion of winning the Class 2A State championship; and
 
6     WHEREAS, The Teutopolis High School Wooden Shoes (31-4)
7 varsity squad upset the previously undefeated Harrisburg High
8 School Bulldogs (40-1) by a score of 5-1, for the Wooden Shoes'
9 first State baseball title; and
 
10     WHEREAS, The Wooden Shoes' were led in the championship
11 game by Derek Thompson, who started the game on the mound; he
12 continued his dominant season by tallying six strikeouts over
13 seven innings of one-run ball; he also "helped the cause" by
14 scoring the first two runs of the game following two singles;
15 and
 
16     WHEREAS, A State championship is a team effort, requiring
17 much dedication throughout the season; the members of the
18 Teutopolis High School varsity boys baseball team serve as
19 models of hard work and integrity for the people of the State
20 of Illinois; therefore, be it
 
21     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
2 congratulate the members of the Teutopolis High School varsity
3 boys baseball team on the occasion of winning the Class 2A
4 State championship, and wish them continued success with the
5 guidance of the returning roster members; and be it further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to Justin Fleener, head coach of the Teutopolis High
8 School varsity boys baseball team; Andrew Johnson, athletic
9 director of Teutopolis High School; Greg Beck, Principal of
10 Teutopolis High School; and to all members of the State
11 championship varsity baseball team, as a symbol of our esteem
12 and respect.
