HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the Teutopolis High School varsity boys baseball team on the occasion of winning the Class 2A State championship; and

WHEREAS, The Teutopolis High School Wooden Shoes (31-4) varsity squad upset the previously undefeated Harrisburg High School Bulldogs (40-1) by a score of 5-1, for the Wooden Shoes' first State baseball title; and

WHEREAS, The Wooden Shoes' were led in the championship game by Derek Thompson, who started the game on the mound; he continued his dominant season by tallying six strikeouts over seven innings of one-run ball; he also "helped the cause" by scoring the first two runs of the game following two singles; and

WHEREAS, A State championship is a team effort, requiring much dedication throughout the season; the members of the Teutopolis High School varsity boys baseball team serve as models of hard work and integrity for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the members of the Teutopolis High School varsity boys baseball team on the occasion of winning the Class 2A State championship, and wish them continued success with the guidance of the returning roster members; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Justin Fleener, head coach of the Teutopolis High School varsity boys baseball team; Andrew Johnson, athletic director of Teutopolis High School; Greg Beck, Principal of Teutopolis High School; and to all members of the State championship varsity baseball team, as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
