HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Goreville Blackcats High School Boys Baseball team on winning second place at the Class 1A State Tournament, held on June 5, 2010 in Joliet; and

WHEREAS, Goreville High School was well-represented at the Class 1A State tournament; many of the team's fans and family members made the five-hour drive to support the team through their second-place finish; and

WHEREAS, The Blackcats beat Tri-Valley, 4-3, in the June 4, 2010 semifinal game and fell 15-5 to Westminster Christian in the championship game on June 5, 2010; this season marks the first time the team has advanced beyond its sectional tournament; and

WHEREAS, The Coach of the Blackcats is Shawn Tripp; the Athletic Director is Todd Tripp; and

WHEREAS, The team was welcomed by their hometown fans as they returned on June 6 with their second place trophy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Goreville Blackcats baseball team on their second place win and wish them continued success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Goreville High School Boys Baseball team as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
