HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Big John's Grocery Store on 25 years of service to the people of Eldorado; and

WHEREAS, Huck's Grocery was sold to Dan Dowdy on May 20, 1985; and

WHEREAS, Dan has worked in the store since 1976, where he eventually became the store manager until the time he purchased the store from Martin and Bayley, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Eric Johnson became a partner in the business shortly after Dan purchased the store; and

WHEREAS, Big John's is located at the intersection of Route 45 and Route 142 in Eldorado, where it currently employs 41 staff members, 3 of whom have been with Dan and Eric since they became co-owners of the store; and

WHEREAS, On May 20, 2010, the City of Eldorado hosted a ceremony honoring Big John's; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Big John's on 25 years of service to the people of Eldorado; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dan Dowdy and Eric Johnson as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
