HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, On February 8, 1910, William Dickson Boyce, a
3 resident of the City of Ottawa, executed and signed documents
4 to officially incorporate and organize the Boy Scouts of
5 America; and
 
6     WHEREAS, In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Boy
7 Scouts of America, Scouts throughout the United States will pay
8 homage to a man who touched the lives of millions of youth and
9 adult leaders through Scouting; and
 
10     WHEREAS, The Ottawa Scouting Museum has the unique
11 opportunity to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Boy
12 Scouts of America in the hometown and final resting place of
13 W.D. Boyce; and
 
14     WHEREAS, The Ottawa Scouting Museum will host a "Scout
15 Homecoming 2010" in Ottawa on June 10-13, 2010; the homecoming
16 will feature an old fashioned Soap Box Derby, a 1910 campsite,
17 a climbing wall, a rappelling tower, monkey bridges, a Dutch
18 Oven Cook-Off, hiking trails, and Native American dancers,
19 among many other activities; and
 
20     WHEREAS, The Ottawa Scouting Museum has served as a shining
21 example of the Scouts and their contributions to mankind during

1 this momentous anniversary; therefore, be it
 
2     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
4 congratulate the organizers and volunteers of the Ottawa
5 Scouting Museum on the occasion of the museum's Scout
6 Homecoming 2010 celebration and wish them continued success and
7 happiness in the future; and be it further
 
8     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to the Ottawa Scouting Museum as a symbol of our
10 esteem and respect.
