HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the employees and administration of Serenity House Counseling Services on the occasion of the organization's 25th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Serenity House was founded in 1985 as a 4-bed cottage that housed 4 men looking to live their lives free of addition; today, Serenity House has a state-of-the-art addictions treatment facility with a full-time staff that serves over 300 men and women in extended residential care, independent living, and outpatient programs every year; the organization also provides HIV counseling and testing to hundreds of men and women every year; and

WHEREAS, Serenity House currently partners with over 50 other social service agencies, including the United Way, throughout the State of Illinois to ensure that each and every individual receives the services he or she needs; and

WHEREAS, Serenity House has been recognized on the local, state, and national levels as an example of excellence in responding to the complex needs of its clients and communities and helping thousands of individuals become productive members of society again; and

WHEREAS, The employees and administration of Serenity House serve as models of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the employees and administration of Serenity House Counseling Services on the occasion of the organization's 25th anniversary and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to David Tews, President/CEO of Serenity House Counseling Services, as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
