HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the Crest Hill Women's Civic League on the occasion of the organization's 50th anniversary and honors them for their many years of service to their community; and

WHEREAS, The Crest Hill Women's Civic League was founded in the City of Crest Hill on March 31, 1960 to promote political responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens of local government; and

WHEREAS, The Crest Hill Women's Civic League has served the citizens of the City of Crest Hill and the State of Illinois for 50 years; in 2010, the organization has 30 active members, including founding member Kay Thomas; and

WHEREAS, The Crest Hill Women's Civic League has made contributions to the City of Crest Hill, including the purchase of a lot in the Richland subdivision to aid in the formation of the city and the purchase of the City's first ambulance; the organization has hosted numerous dances to promote socialization among citizens and raise funds for municipal improvements; the organization has conducted numerous candidate meetings in order to keep the residents of Crest Hill and the State of Illinois well-informed; the organization spearheaded the efforts to bring a library building and services to Crest Hill and to furnish equipment and furniture to the library's Community Room; the organization also spearheaded efforts to provide regular maintenance service for the Lidice Memorial and coordinated the memorial's 25th anniversary celebration; and

WHEREAS, The Crest Hill Women's Civic League continues to be a viable organization in 2010 through its recognition of student achievement and by promoting good citizenship among the citizens of Crest Hill; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the members of the Crest Hill Women's Civic League on the occasion of the organization's 50th anniversary and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Crest Hill Women's Civic League as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
