HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Every day, pediatric hematology/oncology nurses
3 care for many of the most precious patients of all: children,
4 adolescents, and young adults with cancer and blood diseases;
5 with unwavering devotion, these special nurses provide the
6 highest standard of physical and emotional care to their
7 patients and families; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Since 1973, the Association of Pediatric
9 Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON), a professional
10 organization for pediatric hematology/oncology nurses and
11 other pediatric hematology/oncology healthcare professionals,
12 has provided leadership and expertise to pediatric
13 hematology/oncology nurses by defining and promoting the
14 highest standards of practice and care to the pediatric,
15 adolescent, and young adult communities; and
 
16     WHEREAS, The month of September is Childhood Cancer
17 Awareness Month; it is fitting to have a day within that month
18 that recognizes pediatric hematology/oncology nurses and their
19 work with these children; therefore, be it
 
20     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
22 designate September 8 of every year as Pediatric

1 Hematology/Oncology Nurses Day in the State of Illinois; and be
2 it further
 
3     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
5 Nurses as an expression of our gratitude and respect.
