720 ILCS 570/103

Amends the Illinois Controlled Substances Act. Provides that a licensed physician who is otherwise authorized to prescribe controlled substances in Illinois may prescribe Schedule II through V controlled substances using e-prescribing methods if done in accordance with the federal rules for e-prescribing controlled substances.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning criminal law.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Controlled Substances Act is amended by changing Section 103 as follows:

Sec. 103. Scope of Act. Nothing in this Act limits the lawful authority granted by the Medical Practice Act of 1987, the Nurse Practice Act, the Illinois Optometric Practice Act of 1987, or the Pharmacy Practice Act.

Notwithstanding any Section in this Act, a licensed physician who is otherwise authorized to prescribe controlled substances in Illinois may prescribe Schedule II through V controlled substances using e-prescribing methods if done in accordance with the federal rules for e-prescribing controlled substances.
