SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
720 ILCS 570/103   from Ch. 56 1/2, par. 1103

    Amends the Illinois Controlled Substances Act. Provides that a licensed physician who is otherwise authorized to prescribe controlled substances in Illinois may prescribe Schedule II through V controlled substances using e-prescribing methods if done in accordance with the federal rules for e-prescribing controlled substances.

1     AN ACT concerning criminal law.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Controlled Substances Act is
5 amended by changing Section 103 as follows:
 
6     (720 ILCS 570/103)  (from Ch. 56 1/2, par. 1103)
7     Sec. 103. Scope of Act. Nothing in this Act limits the
8 lawful authority granted by the Medical Practice Act of 1987,
9 the Nurse Practice Act, the Illinois Optometric Practice Act of
10 1987, or the Pharmacy Practice Act.
11     Notwithstanding any Section in this Act, a licensed
12 physician who is otherwise authorized to prescribe controlled
13 substances in Illinois may prescribe Schedule II through V
14 controlled substances using e-prescribing methods if done in
15 accordance with the federal rules for e-prescribing controlled
16 substances.
