SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

220 ILCS 5/8-515 new

Amends the Public Utilities Act. Provides that the Illinois Commerce Commission shall adopt minimum standards for smart grid technology for electric service by rule and require electric utilities to comply with those standards.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding Section 8-515 as follows:

Sec. 8-515. Smart grid technology; minimum standards required. The Commission shall adopt minimum standards for smart grid technology for electric service by rule and require electric utilities to comply with those standards.
