| | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | | 3 | | to learn of the death of Thomas E. "Tom" Sanders of Spring | | 4 | | Grove, who passed away on July 1, 2022; and
| | 5 | | WHEREAS, Tom Sanders was born to George and Maxine (Bolt) | | 6 | | Sanders in Woodstock on March 22, 1953; he graduated from | | 7 | | Richmond-Burton
High School in 1971; he married Mary | | 8 | | Clettenberg at St.
Matthew Lutheran Church in Lake Zurich
on | | 9 | | June 4, 1977; and
| | 10 | | WHEREAS, Tom Sanders began his career in law enforcement | | 11 | | at the McHenry County
Sheriff's Department in 1978, retiring | | 12 | | as a sergeant;
he served as the chief of police of Spring Grove | | 13 | | from 2007 until his retirement in 2021; and
| | 14 | | WHEREAS, Tom Sanders devoted much of his life towards | | 15 | | serving his community, acting as a village trustee from 1992 | | 16 | | until 2005 and as village president from 2005 until 2007; he
| | 17 | | also served as a volunteer firefighter; and
| | 18 | | WHEREAS, Tom Sanders founded and served as president
of | | 19 | | the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 118, organizing the | | 20 | | group's yearly
fundraising golf outing for more than 20 years; | | 21 | | and

| | 1 | | WHEREAS, Tom
Sanders was known for his quick wit and being | | 2 | | a true family man who loved spending time with his family; and
| | 3 | | WHEREAS, Tom Sanders was preceded in death by his parents; | | 4 | | his sisters, Sandra Londberg and Georgie Gritzuk; and his
| | 5 | | brother, Bob Sanders; and
| | 6 | | WHEREAS, Tom Sanders is survived by his wife of 45 years, | | 7 | | Mary; his children, Ehren, Kiel (Laura), and Ashley
Sanders; | | 8 | | his grandchildren, Lilly, Ava, Mia, and Zoe; his brother, Mike | | 9 | | (the late Cheryl)
Sanders; his sister-in-law, Donna Sanders; | | 10 | | and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| | 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| | 13 | | Thomas E. "Tom" Sanders and extend our sincere
condolences to | | 14 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | | 15 | | further
| | 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| | 17 | | presented to the family of Tom Sanders as an expression of
our | | 18 | | deepest sympathy.
