SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John Cunningham of Normal, who passed
4away on January 30, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Cunningham was born in Bloomington to Michael
6T. and Abbie Duga Cunningham on October 12, 1930; he graduated
7from Trinity High School in 1949 and served in the United
8States Air Force; he married Paula Daly at Holy Trinity Church
9in Bloomington on January 14, 1953; and
 
10    WHEREAS, John Cunningham was a lifelong farmer and spent
11his career in agriculture; he retired from Myers Inc. in
12Towanda in 1990; he then retired from State Farm Insurance
13Company in 2003; he also served as Towanda Township Supervisor
14for 20 years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, John Cunningham was a member of St. Patrick Church
16of Merna and the Knights of Columbus; he was a volunteer at OSF
17HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center; he founded the Cornbelt
18Two-Cylinder Club for those who enjoyed restoring John Deere
19tractors; he cherished any time he was able to spend with his
20family; and
 
21    WHEREAS, John Cunningham was preceded in death by his

1brothers, Thomas and Ralph Cunningham; and his sister, Rosemary
2Cunningham, in infancy; and
 
3    WHEREAS, John Cunningham is survived by his wife of 66
4years, Paula; his daughters, Trish Cunningham, Therese
5Cunningham, Mary (Tom) Luttrell, and Lucy (Andy) Mardis; and
6his grandchildren, John Luttrell, Maggie Luttrell, Abbie
7(Mark) Fieder, and Mary Mardis; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10John Cunningham and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of John Cunningham as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
