SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Thomas J. Rode of Fox Lake, formerly of Brookfield, who passed away on October 2, 2008; and

WHEREAS, He was born on April 2, 1945 in Berwyn to Raymond and Helen (nee Zuetel) Rode; and

WHEREAS, He was a tool and die maker by profession and worked for various manufacturing companies in the Chicagoland suburbs; he was a member of the Civil Air Patrol for over 40 years; and

WHEREAS, He enjoyed traveling and dancing and spending time with his family and friends; his hobbies included miniature ship building; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Leah; his infant sister, LaNorma; his brother-in-law, Dennis Gerrietts; and his beloved dog, Fido; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Rode is survived by his brother, Jim; his sisters, Loralee Gerrietts and Joy (Bruce) Stuckey; his nieces and nephews; and his niece and goddaughter, Christine (Tom) Taylor; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Thomas Rode; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Thomas J. Rode as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
