SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Michael Pettigrew of Chicago, who passed
4 away on March 1, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Michael Pettigrew was born on May 21, 1963 to the
6 late Clarence and Almeda Pettigrew; he accepted Christ at an
7 early age at the Faith Community of Saint Sabina, where he
8 later served as an altar boy for several years; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He attended St. Sabina Elementary School and
10 Calumet High School; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Michael Pettigrew worked for St. Sabina for 26
12 years; he did side jobs, painting, landscaping, removing snow,
13 and plumbing; he did projects around his home, including
14 installing an in-wall aquarium; and
 
15     WHEREAS, At an early age, Michael met and formed a special
16 relationship with Kenya Morgan; their friendship led to
17 marriage in February of 1990 and continued even after their
18 legal union ended; to this union two beautiful children were
19 born; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Michael Pettigrew is survived by his children,

1 Cesydiah and Miguel; his mother, Almeda Pettigrew-Bell; his
2 stepfather, Otis Bell; his sisters, Paulette Pettigrew, Sheila
3 Carthon, Rosemary (Isacc) Achinvu, Carolyne (Jerome) Adams,
4 and Debbie (Andre) Johnson; his brother, Tyrone (Lisa)
5 Pettigrew; his stepbrothers; his stepsisters; his nieces,
6 Jaqueisha and Maliaka; his nephews, Michael and Quincy; his
7 great nieces, Bryshawna and Janiah; and a host of aunts,
8 cousins, friends, and the St. Sabina family; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11 his family and friends, the passing of Michael Pettigrew; and
12 be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Michael Pettigrew as a symbol of our
15 sympathy.
