SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Bernice T. Zakroczymski of Antioch, who passed away on September 26, 2008; and

WHEREAS, She was born December 6, 1912 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Chester J. and Antonette (Opatka) Sobieski; she moved to Cicero in 1960, to Brookfield, Wisconsin in 1989, and to Antioch in 1996; and

WHEREAS, Bernice was a member of St. Peter Church and the Senior Center in Antioch and the Polish Women National Alliance and Society of the Little Flower in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Before her retirement she worked as a secretary for Ceco Steel in Cicero; in 1942 she married Adam K. Zakroczymski in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam; her brothers, Chester, John, Stanley, and Edward; and her first husband, Sigfried Ogrodowski; and

WHEREAS, Bernice Zakroczymski is survived by her two sons, Adam (Patricia) Zakroczymski Jr. and Sigfred (June) Ogrodowski; her five grandchildren, David C. (Stephanie) Zakroczymski, Adam K. (Sandi) Zakroczymski, Derrek (Linda) Ogrodowski, Derene (Ben) Davis, and Darin (Ashley) Ogrodowski; and her seven great-grandchildren, Shylene, Jarrod, Siena, Jaykub, and Aidin Ogrodowski, Nathaniel Martin-Zakroczymski, and Aydin Zakroczymski; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Bernice Zakroczymski; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bernice Zakroczymski as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
