SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Bruno Anton Desulis of Yorkville, who passed away on June 15, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Bruno Anton Desulis was born on September 8, 1913 in Chicago, the son of Anton and Antonette (Gudwich) Desulis; he met his wife, Elspith Anderson, at the Marlboro Presbyterian Church in Chicago; following his graduation in 1937 from the University of Illinois Medical School in Chicago, they were united in marriage on October 1, 1938 in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, He interned at Augustana Hospital in Chicago, and during his career delivered over 1,000 babies; he and his wife moved to Beardstown in 1940, where he began his private practice as a general practitioner and surgeon; he served as the Chief of the Medical Staff at Schmidt Memorial Hospital in Beardstown; he belonged to the Board of Directors of the Beardstown Savings and Loan, and was a member of the Elks and other service and civic organizations; and

WHEREAS, He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during World War II as a Lieutenant J.G.; throughout his life, Dr. Desulis continued his education; he was a member of the American Medical Association; he enjoyed playing bridge, reading, nature, the arts, his friends and family, and especially the practice of medicine; in 1996 he and his wife moved to Yorkville; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Antonette Desulis; his sisters, Helen Desulis and Stephanie Klonsos; his brother, Stanley Desulis; and his granddaughter, Elizabeth Herndon; and

WHEREAS, He is survived by his wife, Elspith Desulis; his children, Thomas Anton (Nancy) Desulis, Stanley Walter (Marcia) Desulis, and Janet Ann (James) Hissong; his grandchildren, Kathryn Desulis, Michael (Jennifer) Desulis, Craig Hissong, and Richard Desulis; his great-grandson, Brian Anton Desulis; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dr. Bruno Anton Desulis; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Desulis as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
