SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of George A. Lavazza Sr. of Joliet, who passed away on April 8, 2007; and

WHEREAS, George A. Lavazza Sr. was born on April 21, 1930 in Joliet; his parents were Ambrose and Onesta (nee Aiazzi) Lavazza; and

WHEREAS, George A. Lavazza Sr. was a 50 year member and past president of the Laborers Union Local #75; he was the founder and president of the Laborers Retiree's Club; he was a member of the Joliet Moose Lodge, the Moran A.C., and the South Side Civic Club; and

WHEREAS, George A. Lavazza Sr. was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Kathryn (nee Binzen) Oldani; his brother, J.R. Lavazza, and special friends, Mike and Bernice Guglielmucci; and

WHEREAS, George A. Lavazza Sr. is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Theresa (nee Oldani) Lavazza; his children, George A. (Debbie) Lavazza Jr., Kathryn Lucenti and Laura (Jarek) Lucek; his grandchildren, Jenny Lavazza, Trish (Justin) Maurer, Gina Pach, Chrissy Lavazza, Christopher Lavazza, Sebastian Lucek, and Adam Lucek; his brothers, Phillip (late Marie) Lavazza and Francis "Babe" (Delores) Lavazza; his sister-in-law, Betty (late J.R.) Lavazza; his special friends, Sue and Nick Grzetich, Linda and Dave Wills, and Mike and Kathy Guglielmucci; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of George A. Lavazza Sr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of George A. Lavazza Sr. as an expression of our sympathy.
