SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

30 ILCS 105/12-2.1 new

Amends the State Finance Act. Provides that State funds may not be used to provide the Governor with, nor to reimburse the Governor for the cost of, more than one round trip from the Governor's county of residence to the seat of government during any week when the General Assembly is in session. Makes an exception for emergency situations. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning public finance.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The State Finance Act is amended by adding Section 12-2.1 as follows:

(30 ILCS 105/12-2.1 new)

Sec. 12-2.1. Cost of transporting the Governor to the seat of government. State funds may not be used to provide the Governor with, nor to reimburse the Governor for the cost of, more than one round trip from the Governor's county of residence to the seat of government during any week when the General Assembly is in session. This applies, without limitation, to transportation by any airplane or motor vehicle owned, leased, or operated by the State or any of its departments. Any such reimbursement shall not exceed the rate of reimbursement provided under Section 1 of the General Assembly Compensation Act for members of the General Assembly attending legislative session. The reimbursement limitations under this Section do not apply in emergency situations.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
