SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

305 ILCS 5/5-2.02 new

Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. Requires the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to apply for an appropriate waiver of federal law and regulations in order to provide medical assistance coverage for home and community-based services for children under age 18 with autism. Effective July 1, 2007.

AN ACT concerning public aid.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by adding Section 5-2.02 as follows:

(305 ILCS 5/5-2.02 new)

Sec. 5-2.02. Children with autism; federal waiver. The Department of Healthcare and Family Services shall apply for an appropriate waiver of federal law and regulations in order to provide medical assistance coverage for home and community-based services for children under age 18 with autism.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 2007.
