HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Stan Ommen joined State Farm in 1997 and currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of State Farm Bank in Bloomington; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ommen spent the first 34 years of his professional life working in the banking industry for Champion Federal Savings and Loan Association, which became First of America Bank in 1993; and

WHEREAS, During his time with Champion Federal, Mr. Ommen worked his way from the loan service area in 1963 to Senior Vice President in 1976 and in 1985 was named Executive Vice President, a title he held until 1993 when he was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer with First of America; and

WHEREAS, In 1995, Mr. Ommen was named President and Chief Executive Officer and then Regional President in 1995; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ommen earned a Bachelor's degree from Illinois State University and a Master's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana; he currently serves as a representative of the Financial Services Roundtable, Chair of the Identity Theft Assistance Center (ITAC), a member of the executive council for the National Housing Policy Council, and the Board of Directors for the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and the Social Compact; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ommen has been an active member of McLean County and currently serves as trustee of Illinois State University and chairman of the Illinois State University Foundation; his commitment to public service has also been demonstrated through service on the Boards of Directors of Westminster Village Retirement Facility, McLean County Historical Society, Mennonite College of Nursing, McLean County Chamber of Commerce, and the McLean County Economic Development Council; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ommen received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award in 2006 for his volunteer efforts on both local and national levels; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Stan Ommen on his retirement from State Farm Bank and thank him for a lifetime of service to his community and the citizens of Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Stan Ommen as a symbol of our respect.
