HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dick Chase of Elmhurst who passed away on March 2, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Dick Chase was born in Chicago; he was a Marine Corps veteran who served in the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, Dick Chase was the owner of Chase Root Beer, a business well-known for its concessions at numerous local festivals and events, including the American Cancer Society's Elmhurst/Lombard Relay for Life and the Elmfest in Elmhurst; and

WHEREAS, Dick Chase was a former Director of the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry and served on its Marketing Committee and Elmfest Steering Committee for many years, as well as serving on the Downers Grove Marketing Committee, the Naperville Downtown Business Alliance, and the Character Counts Marketing Committee; he also served as President of the Illinois Festival Association and was the Founding Director of the Character Counts IN! Elmhurst Board; and

WHEREAS, Dick Chase was preceded in death by his son, Scott; and his sibling, Cullie Chase; and

WHEREAS, Dick Chase is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; his son, Kent; his grandchildren, Kelsey, Morgan, and Austin; his sister, Shirley Cartledge; his daughter-in-law, Michelle; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dick Chase; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dick Chase as an expression of our sympathy.
