HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the Harristown Fire Protection District on the occasion of the district's 50th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The Harristown Fire Protection District was formed in April of 1958; the department was the last fire district formed by a referendum vote of residents in Macon County; the Harristown Fire Protection District and its 25 volunteer firefighters/EMS First Responders currently protect about 25 square miles of territory and 3,000 residents; and

WHEREAS, The Harristown Fire Protection District performs a vital service for the citizens of Harristown, providing emergency medical services, hazardous material operations level response services, light, water, and ice rescue services, search and recovery operations, carbon monoxide alarm services, lifeline calls, and fire alarm services, among many others; and

WHEREAS, In celebration of the district's 50th anniversary, the Harristown Fire Protection District will hold a Special 50th Anniversary Open House at the Harristown Fire Station and Training Facility in Harristown on June 8, 2008; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the members of the Harristown Fire Protection District on the occasion of the district's 50th anniversary and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Harristown Fire Protection District as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
