SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Phillip D. "Phil" Murphy of East Moline, who passed away on October 7, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Phil Murphy was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Fred and Mary (Krehel) Murphy on November 6, 1926; he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and married Laura I. Baldwin at St. Anne Catholic Church in East Moline on April 16, 1955; and

WHEREAS, Phil Murphy was an engineer for the Rock Island and the B&O railroads; and

WHEREAS, Phil Murphy was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus; and

WHEREAS, Phil Murphy was preceded in death by his wife, Laura; his parents; his daughter, Laurenda Salisberry; and his brother, Donny Murphy; and

WHEREAS, Phil Murphy is survived by his sons, Lloyd (Carol) and Lyle (Lori) Murphy; his daughter, Linda Murphy; his sister, Sherry (Bob) Phelps; eight grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Phillip D. "Phil" Murphy and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Phil Murphy as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
