SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Frederick Lee "Fred" Bradshaw of
4Griggsville, who passed away on March 21, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw was born in Quincy to Thomas and
6Lois Sweeting Bradshaw on April 6, 1936; he graduated from
7Griggsville High School in 1954 and served in the U.S. Army for
8three years; he attended Western Illinois University and
9received a bachelor's degree in agriculture; he married Carole
10Schulten in Hannibal, Missouri on July 9, 1969; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw was a farmer and an agriculture
12advocate; he served on many boards over the years, including
13Farm Credit Services of Western Illinois, the Illinois Soybean
14Checkoff Board, the National Biodiesel Board, the Council on
15Food and Agriculture Research (Treasurer), Two Rivers RC&D
16(Chairman), the Pike County Farm Bureau, the Griggsville Rural
17Fire District (Treasurer), the Pike County Board, and the Orr
18Research Center Corporation, where he helped facilitate the
19agreement between the University of Illinois and John Wood
20Community College to share resources; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw received many awards for his work in
22agriculture, including the Award of Merit for Distinguished

1Service to Agriculture presented by the Gamma Sigma Delta Honor
2Society of Agriculture at the University of Illinois and the
3ACES Award of Merit which recognizes the outstanding
4accomplishments of living University of Illinois College of
5ACES alumni who have excelled in their careers, leadership, or
6service upon graduation from college; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw and his wife, Carole, visited all 50
8states and 47 countries on every continent except Antarctica;
9he enjoyed running the bulldozer on his farm and visiting with
10his grandchildren and attending their sporting events and other
11activities; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw was a member of the Griggsville
13Masonic Lodge and Shriners, the Griggsville United Methodist
14Church, and the Griggsville/Perry American Legion; he served as
15a precinct committeeman and vice chairman for the Pike County
16Republican Party; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw was preceded in death by his
18parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and
19Beulah Schulten; and his brothers-in-law, Chuck Schulten and
20John Adams; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Fred Bradshaw is survived by his wife, Carole; his
22sons, Jeff (Erin), Eric, and Matt (Lori) Bradshaw; his

1grandchildren, Sami, Lincoln, Jacob, Jane, Wesley, Cody, and
2Kyle Bradshaw; his brothers, Philip (Linda) and Harvey (Judy)
3Bradshaw; his sisters-in-law, Kay Adams and Sue (John) Bier;
4and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Frederick Lee "Fred" Bradshaw and extend our sincere
8condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
9him; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Fred Bradshaw as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
