SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Denny Hutchings of Sullivan, who passed away on February 13, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Denny Hutchings was born in Mattoon to Edward C. and Velma Wetzel Hutchings on October 31, 1945; he married Mary Stevens in Mattoon on March 5, 1967; and

WHEREAS, Denny Hutchings was a counselor at Sullivan High School for 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Denny Hutchings was a member of the Sullivan Faith Lutheran Church, where he was a church elder; he was a member of the Sullivan Ambucs and was named Ambuc of the Year in 2018; he was also a member of the Big Hat Club, the Sullivan Country Club, and the Moultrie County Retired Teachers Association; he sang with the Prairie Winds; he was Mr. Redskin in 2014; the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame named him a Friend of Basketball for outstanding achievement in Illinois basketball; and

WHEREAS, Denny Hutchings was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Denny Hutchings is survived by his wife, Mary; his sons, Kris (Misha) Hutchings and Nathan (Jen) Hutchings; his grandchildren, Alex Hutchings, George Hutchings, and Konner Hutchings; his stepmother, Audrey Hutchings; his brother, Gary (Pat) Hutchings; and his sister, Donna Kelly; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Denny Hutchings and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Denny Hutchings as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
