HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Officer
4Conrad Gary of Chicago, who was killed in the line of duty on
5December 17, 2018; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Officer Gary grew up in suburban Oak Lawn and
7graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 2009; he served
8over five years in the United States Air Force and spent much
9of that time deployed in Germany; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Officer Gary wanted to make the city a better
11place and joined the Chicago Police Department in March 2017;
12at the Chicago Police Academy, he was a "go-to" person who
13helped classmates; after his training, he was assigned to the
14Calumet District and was becoming known as an officer who was
15quick to provide backup to other officers; he had a sense of
16duty that compelled him to help others; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Officer Gary was the beloved husband of Kelly
18(Kubil), the cherished father of Tess, the loving son of
19Michael and Kimberly (Evans), the dear brother of Michael Jr.
20(Stephanie) and David Gary (Carrie), the adored son-in-law of
21Daniel and Mary Kay Kubil, the caring grandson of Margaret and
22Herbert Gary and Marilyn Evans, the great-grandson-in-law of

1Dennis Dobbyn and Alice Kubil Gartland, the fond brother-in-law
2of Katie (Ben) Warren, Kristy (Matt) Norris, Daniel (Jessica
3Justiniano), Michael, and Kiera, the favorite uncle of Easton,
4Olivia, Brendan, Owen, Tommy, Luke, and Ella, and the nephew
5and cousin of many; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
7HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8we mourn the passing of Officer Conrad Gary and extend our
9sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
10and loved him; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Officer Gary as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
