SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Gerald William Downey of Dongola, who passed away on February 5, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Downey was born on September 11, 1936, the son of Thomas Frances and Genevieve Gertrude (Jewett) Downey; he was married to Shirley Brown; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Downey served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force; and

WHEREAS, He worked as a dispatcher and was a life member of the NRA; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Downey was a Catholic; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Downey was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Wilbert and Robert, and his sisters, Mary, Patricia Ann, and Genevieve; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Gerald William Downey will be felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Shirley; his daughters and sons-in-law, Faith Louise and Luther Avery Penley IV, Sheri Lee and Steven Lee Penley Sr., Tamara Saline and Donald Gene Keen, Jacquelyn and Randall Robert Baldwin, and Gwendelyn and Jerry Earl Fuller; his sons and daughters-in-law, Sgt. William Scott Downey, Brian Charles Downey, Gerald Brett and Shannon J. Downey, and Danny Ray and Rhonda Kay Wright; his 22 grandchildren; his 13 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Thomas and Theodore; his sister, Kathy Long; his sister-in-law, Ramona Wright; his brothers-in-law and spouses, Gerald and Mary Brown, Lonnie and Joyce Brown, Carolyn and Bob Coryell, Bert and Arlene Brown, and Rocky and Sandy Brown; and his many other relatives and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with all who knew and loved him, the death of Gerald William Downey; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gerald William Downey as an expression of our sympathy.
