SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express
3 their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Gerald
4 William Downey of Dongola, who passed away on February 5, 2006;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, Mr. Downey was born on September 11, 1936, the son
7 of Thomas Frances and Genevieve Gertrude (Jewett) Downey; he
8 was married to Shirley Brown; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Gerald Downey served his country as a member of
10 the U.S. Air Force; and
 
11     WHEREAS, He worked as a dispatcher and was a life member of
12 the NRA; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Mr. Downey was a Catholic; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Gerald Downey was preceded in death by his
15 parents, his brothers, Wilbert and Robert, and his sisters,
16 Mary, Patricia Ann, and Genevieve; and
 
17     WHEREAS, The passing of Gerald William Downey will be felt
18 by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Shirley;
19 his daughters and sons-in-law, Faith Louise and Luther Avery
20 Penley IV, Sheri Lee and Steven Lee Penley Sr., Tamara Saline
21 and Donald Gene Keen, Jacquelyn and Randall Robert Baldwin, and
22 Gwendelyn and Jerry Earl Fuller; his sons and daughters-in-law,
23 Sgt. William Scott Downey, Brian Charles Downey, Gerald Brett
24 and Shannon J. Downey, and Danny Ray and Rhonda Kay Wright; his
25 22 grandchildren; his 13 great-grandchildren; his brothers,
26 Thomas and Theodore; his sister, Kathy Long; his sister-in-law,
27 Ramona Wright; his brothers-in-law and spouses, Gerald and Mary
28 Brown, Lonnie and Joyce Brown, Carolyn and Bob Coryell, Bert
29 and Arlene Brown, and Rocky and Sandy Brown; and his many other

1 relatives and friends; therefore, be it
 
2     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
3 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
4 all who knew and loved him, the death of Gerald William Downey;
5 and be it further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to the family of Gerald William Downey as an
8 expression of our sympathy.
