SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Merle Moe Boswell of Anna, who passed away on January 25, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Boswell was born on June 22, 1920, in Anna, the son of C. Lester and Jettie Moe Boswell; he married Betty June Woodard on December 5, 1941; and

WHEREAS, He was a United States veteran of World War II; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Boswell was the co-founder and owner of the Dutzy Burger; he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Anna; he worked very hard to establish the Veterans Home in Anna, and he was instrumental in building the Veterans Monument at the four-way stop in Anna; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Boswell was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brother, C. Leland Boswell, his sister, Mary Louise Peterson, and a very special friend; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Merle Moe Boswell will be felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his children, Dixie Baggott, the Rev. Richard and wife Lynda Boswell, and Merlene and husband George "Pete" Johnson; his six grandchildren; his three step-grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; his four step-great-grandchildren; his brothers, John and wife, Patricia, Boswell and Donald Wayne and wife, Pat, Boswell; his nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with all who knew and loved him, the death of Merle Moe Boswell; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Merle Moe Boswell as an expression of our sympathy.
